Wrapping up. According to M, here's how it's supposed to play out:
- finish work (install trim, paint, etc) today
seal stone & tile today or tomorrow
- M will work here most of the day tomorrow (Thursday) to finish things up
- on Friday morning, go over work
- 30% labor due
- early next week, shower stall installation
- where to put vertical panel
- which way does door swing
- where to put panel?
- door max width 28"
When we got home, we put on our Critical hats and listed all of the things which still need to be done, or we had questions about, or we didn't like:
- fix the foyer floor
- the crew lay down paper to protect the hardwood floor in our foyer. the paper was held down with masking tape. when they pulled the paper and tape up, the floor finish went along with it. M keeps saying he will fix it.
- doors
- re-hang the doors
install locksets & knobs
- wall around bathroom switchplate
- wall surface looks crappy
- paint window sashes
- they're primed, but not painted
install plumbing & verify that it all works
- the wall sconces don't work
install shower hardware & trim (shower head, knobs, etc)
- all trim needs another coat of paint
Since we don't particularly like the paint job they did, we may do the painting ourselves.
We had planned to install a wall mirror over the sink and a recessed medicine cabinet to the side, but it turns out that the medicine cabinet doesn't have enough clearance, and would hit the wall sconce.
There wasn't much visible progress today. I think they spent a good part of the day painting, and tidying up for the building inspector.
M plugged the gap in the window trim by adding a small strip of wood.
