Go back to MasterBath
day 09
6 may 2005
This morning, M explained that they were trying to meet an inspection deadline. The inspector would examine the plumbing and electrical work later today.
A new person showed up today: the Shower Pan Guy.
Later in the day, M called Tracy. After some pleasantries, M explained that they had not passed inspection, but it wasn't their fault. There was some problem with the existing plumbing, and we would have to rectify this first (and it would cost money). I wonder if it has something to do with the slope of the drainage line?
M also mentioned something about adding a new electrical circuit. I looked at another bid we received for this job, and that particular contractor estimated that we would need two new circuits, each costing ~$500.
We'll find out on Monday how much this extra work will cost.

Here are the makings of a new shower pan. The drain is not centered because of the floor joist issue (MasterBath/Day08), but because we're building a custom, tiled shower pan (as opposed to a standard, pre-formed shower pan), this is not a big deal.
Look at how much the drain sticks out above the surface. I guess this offset is equivalent to the thickness of the layers which are added later (including the tile).
There is a bit more framing around the shower, presumably to support the plumbing and shower enclosure.

Some new framing is visible from the exterior, where they are closing up the old window openings and adding a new window.
