day 8: 5 may 2005

what a mess!

Besides the unusual mess, there doesn't seem to be many external changes today.

There was some activity where the old sink was located (risers and drain).

a hole for the shower drain. M explained that the first hole in the subfloor hit a floor joist, so the crew had to cut a second hole.

Guess where the toilet goes!

We plan to use existing holes in the roof for the bathroom fan and

plumbing vents. The vent for the new sink goes up, the over over over, then up again.

Likewise the fan vent...

Near the vent for the old toilet, Tracy noticed that when the crew removed the dry wall, they revealed a portion of the wall with exterior shingles, facing into the room. This wasn't immediately apparent, because the front and back of the shingles are all the same color. However, the overlap pattern of the shingles clearly indicate that we were looking at an exterior wall. Near the ceiling, I could discern a sloping roofline.

So how did an exterior section of wall find its way into our bathroom? I think I figured it out: 372 Mtn View Ave/Master Bedroom/Interior Exterior Wall.
