This morning, Juan said that he would install the windows and plumbing rough-in. He asked for the location of the windows, and Tracy gave him explicit instructions (offset from nearest wall, and height from floor). She drew a little picture.

During the day, M called Tracy to tell her that there had been a "miscommunication." Don't worry about the shingles, he said. We'll replace 'em! Shingles? Why did they have to touch the shingles?

At first glance, everything seems ok. The crew installed one window, and covered the wall with plyboard.

I went outside.

Somebody had removed all the shingles from a large section of the exterior wall. um...

We also noted that between the recently-installed interior plywood and the exterior furring strips (where the shingles used to be), the crew had not installed insulation or a vapor barrier. They will have to remove the plywood to install the insulation and vapor barrier. The plywood is screwed-in (not nailed), so maybe they plan to remove the plywood anyways.

The plumbing rough-in for the shower. This looks correct, though the scorch marks on the stud look a little alarming.

There's no rough-in for the sink yet.

It turns out that this window is installed the correct distance from the wall, but it's 10 inches too low. The height is important for privacy reasons (this is the bathroom, and the neighbor's front door is directly in-line with the window). They will have to move the window.

Termite damage to a stud. Will they fix this? Should I fix it?
