Go back to MasterBath

April 27, 2005

This morning as we were leaving, the crew asked us "is that a chimney in the closet? Because we gotta remove it!" They were worried that the chimney extended all the way to the roof.

The fellow also mumbled something about our hardwood floor. The project manager clarified: our hardwood floor is actually the subfloor (atop which the hardwood floor is usually laid). Previous owners sanded, polished, and stained the subfloor. Weird.

Also, there is no vapor barrier on our exterior walls, at least in the bedroom. The layers are shingle, exterior slats, insulation, lathe, plaster.

Today, the crew managed to remove the chimney and the closet window. They also removed the closet wall, which wasn't the original plan.

I'm afraid that the chimney, plus our request to salvage the windows and medicine cabinet, has already set the schedule back.

The bathroom has been competely torn out. What's that gray plate near the ceiling?

The crew is still trying to salvage the bathroom window.
