= We Acquire Our Tub =
When we bought our house in 2002, it came with a hot tub.

The hot tub is the Californian model, built by Dimension
One Spas (http://www.d1spas.com). According to the serial number, it was purchased
in 1996.
Because neither Tracy nor I were ever really hot tub fans, we
originally ignored the hot tub. One night, after
a long day of moving and cleaning, we slipped into the hot tub.
Hey, this is rather nice!
Unfortunately, the hot tub had a slow leak. Every morning,
the concrete to one side of the tub was wet (the moisture evaporated
during the day). At first, I thought
this was condensation, but the size of the puddle grew over the
next year. The water loss became noticeable. By winter
of 2003, the leak became severe enough (an inch every other
day) that I shut down the hot tub. You can buy some shit
in a bottle which supposedly plugs small leaks, but it is
not very effective. And at >$20/bottle, I expect my shit
to be effective.
I corresponded with the folks at Dimension One Spas about the
leak. They were responsive, but offered no easy solutions. The warranty
had already expired.
You're gonna have to cut through the side, suggested one
fellow.
I knew from previous experience that the local Dimension
One spa dealer (Pacific Coast Sauna and Spa, in San Mateo)
is staffed by a bunch of jerks who can't keep an appointment.
Life is too short to have to deal with jerks!!
