SYMANTEC ANTIVIRUS BLOWS
Symantec Antivirus is completely ineffective against the latest Fake Alert trojan, which their software (mis?)-identifies as Trojan.FakeAV!gen17. "Easy Removal." Yeah, right... If you suddenly have a little red "X" in your taskbar which pops up alarming security warnings about the Netsky virus, or something called "Safeguard@ EasyClient" keeps trying to install itself, or smss32.exe appears in your startup items even after you've manually disabled it, then congratulations: You're Infected!
Follow this procedure to get rid of the Fake Alert trojan. When you're done, let Symantec know how you feel about their expensive, , ineffectual cycle-hog.
